10. STL Reports & 3D Models

In this video, we’ll take a closer look at how to work with Diagnocat’s STL Reports and create impressive 3D anatomical models.

1. Generating a 3D Model
  • Go to "Create AI Report" → Select "3D Model".
  • Choose the desired study and click "Order".
  • Wait a few minutes for the AI to generate the segmented 3D model.
2. Exploring the 3D Model
  • Left Panel:
    • Toggle anatomical structures on/off (teeth, nerves, sinuses, etc.).
    • Adjust transparency and colors for better visualization.
  • Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR) Mode:
    • View cross-sectional slices with colored segmentation borders.
    • Hold Ctrl + scroll to navigate through layers.
3. Customizing the View
  • Open the top-left settings panel to:
    • Show/hide structures.
    • Change layout views (3D, axial, coronal, sagittal).
    • Adjust brightness/contrast of slices.
4. Using the Smart Ruler
  • Measure precise distances (mm) in 3D or MPR view.
  • Essential for surgical planning (implants, endodontics).
5. Pathology Filters
  • Three filters at the top:
    • Perio: Highlights bone loss (color gradient shows severity).
    • Restorative: Displays fillings, crowns, caries.
    • Endo: Reveals pulp chambers, root canal fillings.
  • Hover over marked areas to see:
    • Type of pathology.
    • Bone loss measurements (6 points per tooth: 3 buccal, 3 lingual).
6. Exporting the Model
  1. Click "Export" (bottom-left corner).
  2. Download a ZIP file containing:
    • STL files (compatible with 3D printers & surgical software).
    • Ideal for labs, guided surgery, or patient education.
